Dr. Caixia Gao, the member of remote sensing study team, has taken part in the European Geosciences Union General Assembly hold in Vienna, Austria on 22 - 27 April, 2012, and has published a paper titled “A neural network method for land surface temperature retrieval from AMSR-E passive microwave data over the Tibetan Plateau”, and demonstrated their new achievements in the land surface temperature retrieval from passive microwave data to international peers. Through academic exchanges, the latest progress and developments in land surface temperature retrieval are investigated, which is of great significance to enhance the research capabilities of the remote sensing research group in the surface temperature retrieval.

The EGU General Assembly 2012 brought together geoscientists from all over the world into one meeting covering various disciplines of the Earth, Planetary and Space Sciences. It was a great success with 4,436 oral and 9,092 poster presentations in 530 unique scientific sessions together with 157 Poster Summaries & Discussions sessions as well as 165 side events. About 11,300 scientists from 95 countries participated the conference and demonstrated the latest progress and developments in geosciences. This international conference provided scientists, especially the young scientists with a forum to present their work and discuss their ideas with experts in all fields of geosciences.
